Clinic
RISS is designed with an on-campus clinic to help residents identify and address basic health needs.
Each resident is offered a physical and medical consultation at no cost during intake. This helps identify current medical concerns, medication needs, chronic conditions, and possible follow-up care.
The clinic may assist with:
· health screening and consultation
· medication coordination
· chronic condition awareness
· referral to outside providers
· emergency response support until EMS arrives
· provider scheduling and follow-up coordination
· communication with volunteer or partner providers
The clinic is directed by a full-time RN Clinic Director.
RISS is not a hospital, nursing home, assisted living facility, or correctional medical unit.
Residents are responsible for managing their own medications and routine healthcare needs.
There are no correctional-style “sick calls,” medication lines, or daily medication distribution systems for routine medications. Staff are not responsible for reminding residents to take medications, waking residents up for medications, or monitoring routine compliance.
If a resident believes they need help organizing medications or maintaining a medication schedule, they may request assistance. Support options may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the situation.
The standard expectation is adult responsibility.
Residents are expected to:
· keep track of their medications
· communicate honestly about prescriptions and medical conditions
· attend appointments
· follow through with referrals
· notify staff if serious medical concerns arise
The clinic exists to support resident stability, not to remove personal accountability.
