Media and Learning Center

(More than just a theater)

The Media & Learning Center is a multi-purpose gathering space designed to support education, communication, presentations, community engagement, and shared viewing experiences.

While the space can host movie nights and entertainment programming, it is intentionally designed as much more than a traditional theater. The facility supports:

  • educational programming

  • workshops and training sessions

  • guest speakers and presentations

  • documentaries and discussion events

  • computer and digital literacy instruction

  • community meetings and forums

  • shared campus events

  • film and streaming events for residents, guests, volunteers, and families

The facility is designed to create shared experiences in a structured but welcoming environment. Residents are encouraged to invite friends and family members to appropriate public events, community viewing nights, educational programs, and campus gatherings.

The Media & Learning Center includes:

  • large-format projection and presentation systems

  • integrated sound system

  • flexible seating configuration

  • presentation and workshop capability

  • lighting and acoustic design

  • lobby and gathering areas

  • light concession and refreshment area

This space plays an important role in campus life because shared experiences help rebuild community connection and normal social rhythms. It also creates opportunities for residents to participate in educational programming and community events in an environment that feels welcoming rather than institutional.

The Media & Learning Center supports both relaxation and growth. On one evening the space may host a movie night or sporting event, while the next day it may be used for training programs, workshops, presentations, or community discussions.

The goal is to create a flexible, community-centered environment where information, entertainment, education, and social connection can exist together in a healthy and structured setting.

If you believe reintegration should be built intentionally, not reactively, we invite you to explore how you can help bring the RISS model to life.
