Guest Access and Campus Visitation

RISS is designed as a residential community, not an institution. Residents live here. Staff work here. Volunteers, service providers, educators, family members, supporters, and community guests are part of the wider campus life.

At the same time, RISS is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and accountable environment for everyone on campus.

All guests, volunteers, service providers, instructors, and community members entering or leaving campus are expected to sign in and sign out. This is not about creating a correctional environment. It is basic campus accountability, similar to what exists in many residential communities, senior living communities, military installations, apartment buildings with concierge desks, and other shared living environments.

Residents may receive adult guests during approved guest hours. Family members and approved guests may be able to use certain campus facilities or join the community for meals for a modest fee, where appropriate.

RISS does not attempt to control residents’ personal relationships. Residents are adults, and this is their home. However, the campus does maintain clear boundaries: no overnight guests, no minors on campus, and no guests who bring drugs, criminal activity, exploitation, violence, or serious disruption into the community.

The purpose of the guest policy is simple: protect residents, protect the campus, protect the integrity of the community, and make sure RISS remains a stable environment where people can rebuild their lives with dignity, privacy, and accountability.
